  1.   What Is APING?
  2.  
  3.   APING is a CPI-C program that should be the first program you configure and
  4.   run when first configuring APPC on your computer.  APING exchanges data
  5.   packets with a partner computer, and times how long the data transfer takes.
  6.   It can be used to get a coarse measure of the session setup time between two
  7.   computers, and the throughput and turnaround time on that APPC session.
  8.   APING can be used to determine whether a session can be set up between two
  9.   computers, and will display extensive error information if session allocation
  10.   fails.
  11.   APING is made up of two transaction programs; APING, which runs on the client
  12.   side, and APINGD, which runs on the server side.

  14.   This distribution file contains:

  16.   APING.EXE  - Client program
  17.   APINGD.EXE - Server program
  18.     Both .EXE files are compiled as Family mode executables (run in both
  19.     OS/2 and DOS).  Extended Services (or Networking Services/2) is required
  20.     on OS/2 and Networking Services/DOS is required for DOS.
